Penn State softball wraps up NFCA Leadoff Classic with a loss to Notre Dame

Penn State wrapped up its weekend at the NFCA Leadoff Classic with a 4-2 loss to Notre Dame.

Pitcher Abigail Britton battled through a tough first inning, but the Fighting Irish took advantage of timely hitting to build an early lead.

Penn State opened at the plate but couldn’t capitalize, as Notre Dame’s Kami Kamzik set the tone from the circle. Kaylie Walters went down on strikes, and Megan Ricks followed with a routine groundout to second. Brooke Klosowicz made solid contact, but her grounder to third ended the inning, giving Kamzik a clean start with a quick three-up, three-down frame.
