Penn State softball kicked off its 2025 campaign with the NCFA Leadoff Classic, where a tough slate of nonconference competition delivered jarring results.
The blue and white sit at 1-4, with their lone win coming against Kennesaw State. Penn State suffered losses to Duke, Texas Tech, Mississippi State and Notre Dame.
Despite a four-loss weekend, coach Clarisa Crowell remained optimistic ahead of her team’s clash at the Fonseca Memorial Tournament, citing the growth that harsh results can bring.
“I still feel good about our team,” Crowell said. “If we are not winning games, we’re learning a lot, and I think we learned a lot about who our team is.
