The Nittany Lions took the diamond on Saturday evening for their second game of the day after suffering their first loss at the Hokie Invite to James Madison; positioning their season record at 7-10.

However, this upcoming matchup posed a significant challenge for Penn State, as they faced off against the hosts, Virginia Tech, currently ranked No. 18 by D1 Softball. Additionally, the Hokies boast a top-ten ERA in all of D1 Softball with 1.63

Ultimately, the hosts triumphed behind its dominant pitching, beating Penn State, 6-3.

Both squads selected their right-handed pitching aces to start, Mady Volpe and Emma Lemley, who lead their respective teams in innings pitched.
