Penn State softball defensive slips ups prove costly in loss to Pitt

On a cold and windy Tuesday night, Penn State struggled to find consistency in the field in its 16-8 loss to Pitt. The Nittany Lions committed three fielding errors – their most since a 17-4 defeat against Indiana on March 22.

Before Tuesday night’s outing, the blue and white had just one error in its last four games combined.

“We didn’t play good enough defense, that’s really what it came down to tonight,” coach Clarisa Crowell said. “We just didn’t do our job.”

Penn State had a strong first two innings, holding onto a comfortable 8-3 lead heading into the third frame.
