Penn State softball can’t keep runners off base in loss to Northwestern

Penn State kicked off Big Ten play against Northwestern at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, the home of the Women’s College World Series. The Nittany Lions entered the game on a five-game win streak, hoping to build momentum for their opening weekend of conference competition.

The Nittany Lions fell 13-7, dropping their first attempt at Big Ten play in the 2025 season.

The blue and white were listed as the visiting team and faced Lauren Boyd in the circle. Boyd got out of the top frame allowing only two baserunners, with right fielder Haylie Brunson reaching via an infield single and third baseman Maddie Gordon working a walk.
