Pitcher Jessica Cummings made her first appearance in the circle this season and pitched well until the bottom of the third, when Elissa Brown singled. It all went downhill from there for Penn State.
Brown proceeded to steal second and the Crimson Tide had runners on second and third following a walk earlier in the inning.
The Crimson Tide capitalized on the opportunity and after a Penn State fielding error Alabama took a 1-0 lead.
