For the first time since 1999, Penn State is No. 2 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Nittany Lions jumped to that spot despite having an off week after Clemson lost at Syracuse on Friday night. The Orange fell to No. 8.
Penn State last moved this high in the 1999 Week 4 Coaches Poll, and it stayed at No. 2 for seven weeks.
The Lions return to action next Saturday when Michigan comes to town for a 7:30 p.m. contest at Beaver Stadium that doubles as the program's annual stadium-wide Whiteout game.
