Penn State releases revenue information for athletics

Recently, a report detailing the revenue created by each Penn State varsity sport from the 2017 year was released.

As expected, football reigned supreme.

Penn State football made $81,232,076 in total revenue for the 2017 season. This includes ticket sales, concession and merchandise/novelty sales, conference distributions and media rights, among other things.

Men’s basketball finished second on the list, earning a total of $11,376,448, while its counterpart, women’s basketball, earned less than 10 percent of the men's total, with $1,009,122. That number was good enough for the second best among women’s sports, however.

Ice hockey was the top revenue sport for the women, earning a total of $1,205,943.
