Penn State football added another accolade in this long offseason, as quarterback Sean Clifford was named to the Davey O’Brien award watchlist. Clifford hopes to become the third Nittany Lion to win the honor, along with Todd Blackledge in 1982 and Kerry Collins in 1994.
The 2020 season (if it happens) will be a critical year for the junior, who has started 12 of 16 games at quarterback and was named honorable-mention All-Big Ten in 2019. Clifford ranked in the top half of the conference in several key statistics, including placing third in touchdowns, yards per completion, and yards per attempt, as well as fourth in total yards per game.
