UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State filled the team’s vacant defensive coordinator position by promoting co-defensive coordinator Brent Pry, James Franklin announced Sunday.
Pry, who worked with Franklin for the past five seasons dating back to their time at Vanderbilt, served as Penn State’s co-defensive coordinator, linebackers coach and assistant head coach last season. In Pry’s new role, which fills the void left by defensive coordinator Bob Shoop, who left to take the job as defensive coordinator at Tennessee on Saturday, Pry adds the title of associate head coach. According to the team’s website, Pry will continue to coach the linebackers, too.
