Saquon Barkley answered the most popular — and least suspenseful — question of Penn State’s offseason Sunday evening, when he announced that he will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
The only surprise about that was that Barkley made his decision known barely a day after the Nittany Lions’ 35-28 victory against Washington in the Fiesta Bowl, since he had hinted, intentionally or otherwise, after that game that he still wanted to weigh the pluses and minuses of turning pro.
Unless overtaking Evan Royster as the Nittany Lions’ all-time rushing leader was atop his to-do list, though, Barkley didn’t have much reason to stay in college.
