Penn State went its second weekend of the season largely untested, with wins over Mt. Olive and Alderson-Broaddus.
It’s safe to say that’s no longer the case. The Nittany Lions took on ranked opponents in No. 2 UCLA and No. 13 USC in the Big Ten/Pac-12 challenge, splitting the two games.
The highly ranked Bruins and Trojans gave the Nittany Lions all they could handle, as Penn State left California with a four set loss to UCLA and a classic five set win over USC leaving them 3-1 on the young season.
These are the types of games that can give an early indication to the makeup of a team.
