Penn State men’s volleyball works on building a wall

A wall usually refers to something impenetrable. In sports, walls refer to something that is impossible to get through, whether an offensive line or a big man in basketball. Penn State does everything it can to make a wall during every single rally using the triple block.

Technically, the triple block is actually pretty simple. When the attacking team is setting up, the defending team tries to put people in front of the ball and block the attack. The Nittany Lions try to get three men in front of the ball every chance they can.

“You want to eliminate the ball that can’t be dug, the ball that is hit to 12 feet,” coach Mark Pavlik said.
