In a scrappy match filled with long rallies, the men’s volleyball team outmuscled Saint Francis in three sets on Sunday for a win that snapped a four-game losing streak.
It took a set for the Nittany Lions to find their rhythm.
Balls ricocheted off the Penn State passers’ arms to every part of the court except towards the setter.
Sometimes setter Luke Braswell got to the passes, and sometimes he had to call for help, but the resulting sets led to a high number of free balls to start the match.
While the passing defense limited what the hitters could do, the defense at the net helped keep Penn State in the game.
