The shock of playing a highly ranked team after a relatively easy opening weekend showed in Penn State’s first set against UCLA, and although it cleaned its game up, it lost the match 3-1.
To start the match, the Nittany Lions were aced four times in the first set and only had eight kills to the Bruins 12, leading to a 25-15 loss.
As has been the pattern so far in this young season, the Nittany Lions came together in the second set. The story was one of errors. Penn State’s stats pretty much equaled UCLA’s, but it had less errors, which let it win 25-19, tying the match.
