Although Sacred Heart argued the final call as the Penn State players cheered and then all the way down the net as it shook hands and walked off the court, Penn State’s block by Kevin Gear and Lee Smith ended the battle between the two teams in a 3-1 win for Penn State.
The teams came out battling hard for every point. For the first 20 rallies, neither could pull ahead by more than two points.
Penn State earned its first three-point lead at 15-12 but had to constantly battle comebacks from Sacred Heart. The Nittany Lions held off their opponents and took the first 25-20.
