Going into the season coach Bob Warming paraded his team’s high fitness scores around like they belonged in the Macy’s Day Parade. It’s now one week into the season and Penn State already is taking the foot off the gas with practice intensity.
The team entered the year with the highest VO2 max, a test that measures oxygen intake, usually on a treadmill, during Warming’s tenure as head coach, but with the combination of two overtime games in California and flying 3000 miles each way, crossing three time zones it’s understandable as to why Wednesday’s practice only lasted two ours.
