With the departure of longtime goalkeepers Kris Shakes and Owen Elliott, Penn State will look a bit different heading into the 2024 season.
Shakes signed a professional contract with the USL’s New Mexico United on Feb. 27, making his debut on March 23. Shakes made his mark in Happy Valley, ranking third all-time in program history with his 273 saves.
The Parkland, Florida, native went 44-18-11 in five seasons, registering a 1.087 goals-against average and .773 save percentage with 23 shutouts.
Elliott’s collegiate career came to an end after using his fifth year in 2023 with the Nittany Lions.
