According to the PairWise rankings, which simulate the selection process, Penn State would qualify for the NCAA tournament as the No. 14 seed if it started March 1. The Nittany Lions are currently tied with Minnesota-Duluth for 14th.
While 16 teams make the tournament, six bids are given to the six conference champions. If the Lions don’t win the Big Ten tournament, they’ll fight for one of only 10 open spots.
The Lions can get into the NCAA tournament without a Big Ten conference win — it’ll just come down largely to how they play in their final two series against Wisconsin and Michigan.
