Penn State men’s hockey’s goaltending system remains a revolving door

All season, Penn State men’s hockey coach Guy Gadowsky has employed the system of a revolving door around the goalies net. New York Islanders prospect Eamon McAdam and senior Matt Skoff have spent their seasons splitting time between the goalposts.

At the dawn of the season, Gadowsky’s decision to continually split time between the goalies raised some eyebrows from fans. After a shaky start from Skoff in a 7-4 loss at home against Notre Dame – in which Skoff was pulled – many wondered if splitting time was hindering the goaltender’s ability to get comfortable.

Keeping a dual goalie system was something Gadowsky was adamant on doing at the time, at least until someone emerged as a definitive starter.
