Evan Barratt’s stock continues to skyrocket.
In the United States’ 2-1 win over Slovakia at the World Junior Championship Wednesday, Barratt not only looked like he belonged on a sheet of ice littered with blue-chip NHL prospects and next year’s consensus No. 1 overall pick, he was the best player by a wide margin.
The Penn State sophomore forward earned player of the game honors in his nation’s opening contest, screening the goalie on Mikey Anderson’s opening goal and then providing the game-winning tally on a filthy backhand snipe from the slot.
Evan Barratt won't get an assist for this, but a heck of a screen to set up a Mikey Anderson goal.
