Penn State men’s hockey’s Carter Schade ruled out for the remainder of the season

A key part of Penn State’s defense core has been ruled out for the season.

Penn State’s second-pair defenseman, Carter Schade, has been shut down for the remainder of the 2025 campaign due to a lower-body injury he suffered in practice, coach Guy Gadowsky said during Monday's media availability.

Schade was having a career year defensively, racking up a career-high 48 blocks.

The junior tied his career best of nine assists, a mark he set back in his freshman season.
