Penn State men's hockey tops Michigan State in Big Ten opener

Andrew Sturtz wasn’t quite sure how the puck got to him, but once it did, he made no mistake.

After bouncing off a few sticks, the puck found its way onto Sturtz’s as he came in on a short breakaway against Michigan State goaltender Jake Hildebrand.

The freshman forward made a couple quick moves on Hildebrand before sliding the puck under his pad.

“It felt pretty good, scoring on him like that,” Sturtz said.

The goal, which was Sturtz’s second of the game, stood as the game winner as Penn State defeated the Spartans 4-2 in the first Big Ten matchup for both teams.
