Penn State men's hockey team receives praise from Pittsburgh Penguins' management

As the Penn State men’s hockey team continues to climb the USCHO and PairWise rankings, it has also captured the attention of some NHL executives.

Ahead of the Three Rivers Classic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Penguins’ associate general manager Jason Botterill suggested the team could be one of the top programs in the country in the near future, according to reports by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

While director of hockey operations Billy Downey believes the program is ahead of schedule in its development, he noted that the team is not attempting to “fast track” anything.

“We’re just trying to have our players play hard day in and day out,” Downey said.
