Penn State men’s hockey sweeps Michigan State

Big Ten play often brings about stronger opponents and more competitive matchups.

If Penn State’s weekend series against Michigan State is any indication, the Nittany Lions are more than ready for the test.

The Lions (10-2-3, 2-0-0-0 Big Ten) forced coach Tom Anastos and his Spartans (4-9-2, 0-2-0-0) to pull their starting goaltender in both games, outscoring them 10-3 in the first weekend of conference play for both teams.

In Friday’s 4-2 victory, the Lions managed four goals on 34 shots on Jake Hildebrand before the senior goaltender was relieved of his duties in favor of sophomore Ed Minney.
