Penn State has called upon former women’s Director of Hockey Operations Alex Dawes to take the same job with the men’s team effective immediately, the team announced Thursday morning.
Dawes replaces Bill Downey, who left earlier this offseason to become the Manager of Hockey Operations for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.
“Alex Dawes has impressed the Athletic Department, our administration and our hockey staff with his tireless work ethic, attention to detail and his communication skills,” head coach Guy Gadowsky said via press release. “He is well respected outside of PSU and with previous experience in Division I men’s hockey operations he will provide a seamless transition.
