While many fans may be disappointed after former Penn State men's golf standout TJ Howe's bid to qualify for a second consecutive U.S. Open fell short on Thursday, it looks like a current Nittany Lion will get to play in a major championship next week.
On Monday, rising senior Cole Miller will begin play at Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews' (R&A) The Amateur Championship — commonly known as the British Amateur in the United States — at Royal St. George's and Prince's Golf Clubs in Sandwich, England.
Miller received an invitation to the field of 288 of the world's top amateur golfers after winning the NCAA Washington Regional on May 17.
