With five and a half minutes to go, Penn State called a timeout as it stared down a possible third consecutive loss.
A back-and-forth contest with Bucknell (3-3) had turned in the Bison's favor, as the visitors took a six-point lead while the Nittany Lions hadn't hit a field goal in over four minutes of game time.
The comeback started with Shep Garner. Garner had run into foul trouble, picking up his fourth with 8:46 left as the Bison went on a run. After the Lions' timeout, he came off the bench and hit a jumper to cut the lead to six.
