CHICAGO –– One year after an appearance in the semifinals, Penn State started its quest for a Big Ten tournament championship against a Minnesota team that dealt the blue and white a demoralizing one-point loss back on Jan. 19.
Once again, the 10th-seeded Nittany Lions were lost another heartbreaker.
Penn State scored 15 of the game’s first 22 points and but couldn’t fend off multiple charges from Minnesota in the second half en route to eventual falling in overtime to the seventh-seeded Gophers 77-72 on Thursday at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
With the loss, the Nittany Lions fall to 14-18 on the season, and have lost to Minnesota for the fourth consecutive time.
