When it comes to Penn State’s offense under coach Mike Rhoades, it typically features quick cuts and drives downhill toward the basket. Gone are the days of a Penn State team like the 2022-23 Nittany Lions — a team that shot 38.7% from deep — in which the 3-point shooting was a more focal point of the offense.
However, against Rutgers on Monday, Penn State continued a recent trend of shooting 3-pointers at an efficient rate, knocking down 10 of 21 shots from deep to help power an 80-72 victory.
“It’s not what they really do,” Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell said.
