Penn State men’s basketball drops tough road loss to No. 5 Michigan State

For the first 30 minutes of Wednesday night’s game in East Lansing, it looked like Pat Chambers was going to get the program-defining win he’s been looking for since he arrived.

Penn State doesn’t get too many opportunities to go up against a top-five Michigan State team on the road and have a chance come away with a win –– but the Spartans were just too much.

The Nittany Lions played arguably their best half of the season, carrying a six-point lead into halftime against a team that some experts think could reach the Final Four.

But Tom Izzo’s teams never go away without a fight, and a 12-0 run in the middle of the second half gave Michigan State its first lead of the night, one they would not surrender for the rest of the game.
