For the first 25 minutes of Tuesday’s contest, Penn State’s offense flowed much like the weather outside the Bryce Jordan Center: ice cold.
After a slow first half for the Nittany Lions saw Patrick Chambers' squad shooting just 41 percent from the field, the Lions turned their play around in the second half thanks to the reemergence of guard Shep Garner and the strong play of forward Payton Banks.
The pair combined for a crucial 44 points as the Lions triumphed over Minnesota 86-77 to improve to 10-6 on the season and 1-2 in Big Ten play.
