The offensive glass was Penn State’s friend throughout its battle against an in-state squad.
The Nittany Lions gave themselves many opportunities at second-chance points — particularly with 19 offensive rebounds — helping the team hold off a feisty Drexel squad to win 75-64 inside the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.
“It was huge,” coach Mike Rhoades said. “Created extra possessions for us. Puff (Johnson) set the tone with that. I thought Puff had a great game.”
Johnson led the way for the blue and white’s offensive boards, hauling in six of them throughout the game. Two of Johnson’s offensive rebounds in the second half led to Penn State converting buckets on second-chance opportunities, keeping Drexel away from the lead.
