Penn State men’s basketball can’t complete comeback in overtime loss to Minnesota

With another opportunity to gain some momentum before hitting the road, Penn State thought it was going to have a big comeback win –– but Minnesota had other plans.

Tony Carr hit a game-tying 3-pointer with just two seconds to go, but it was the Golden Gophers who were able to avenge last year’s loss in the Bryce Jordan Center with a 95-84 win in overtime.

Mike Watkins had a chance to give his team the lead with just 23.5 seconds remaining in regulation, but he missed both free throws with the Nittany Lions down one.

Penn State was without Josh Reaves for the third-straight game due to academic concerns, and once again the Nittany Lions could have used him on the defensive end.
