Penn State loses commitment of five-star QB recruit Justin Fields

Kennesaw, Ga. quarterback prospect Justin Fields announced his decommitment from Penn State’s 2018 recruiting class in a Twitter post Tuesday evening.

Rivals.com ranks Fields, who committed to Penn State in early December of last year, as the top dual-threat quarterback recruit in his class nationally and the eighth-best prospect in the country overall. He said in his post that he’ll continue to consider Penn State, but he has a slew of scholarship offers from other top programs including Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Florida State, according to his Rivals profile.

Fields joins five-star rated defensive end Micah Parsons and three-star rated offensive tackle Chris Bleich among prominent decommitments from Penn State’s 2018 class, which dropped to fourth nationally in Rivals’ class rankings after Fields announced his decision.
