UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — When Brandon Bell is turned loose on the football field Penn State’s strongside linebacker forgets about the two hours spent in the training room every morning before classes and pushes through whichever injury slowed him in previous weeks.
“It’s annoying because you know you have more to put out there, but you’re kind of limited,” Bell said last week leading up to the Lions’ loss against Michigan.
So Bell plays through whatever injuries he can, with body parts taped, wrapped and braced, all allowing the junior and the Lions’ most-experienced linebacker to fly around to make the types of momentum-changing plays that spark the defense.
