Penn State hockey traveled to the Last Frontier for its season-opening series against Alaska-Fairbanks this weekend. The Nittany Lions began their 13th season as a varsity program with an infusion of young talent, with a total of 11 new players joining the squad in the offseason.
The Nittany Lions swept the Nanooks with a 4-3 overtime win in Game 1 and a 5-0 win in Game 2.

Penn State got off to a quick start in Game 1 on Saturday. Jarod Crespo sprang Aiden Fink and Danny Dzhaniyev sprang a 2-on-1 odd-man rush just 4:33 into the contest.
