In a bit of surprise move Friday, Penn State wide receiver Juwan Johnson entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Johnson, a redshirt senior, still has a year of eligibility remaining. Since he already graduated, he’d be considered a graduate student, meaning that if he moves to a new program, he wouldn’t have to sit out a year.
Entering into the transfer portal does not mean that Johnson has decided to leave Happy Valley, it just means that he is currently exploring other options.
Introduced for this season, the NCAA created the transfer portal as a way for athletes to make their intentions known to other coaches.
