Penn State football: Saquon Barkley named Associated Press first-team All-American | Centre Daily Times

Days after finishing fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting, Saquon Barkley added another national honor.

Barkley is an Associated Press first-team All-American, making the list under the designation of “all-purpose player.”

Stanford’s Bryce Love and San Diego State’s Rashaad Penny were the first-team running backs. Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor and Auburn’s Kerryon Johnson were second-teamers, while Southern California’s Ronald Jones and Florida Atlantic’s Devin Singletary were on the third team.

Barkley was the lone Nittany Lion on the first, second or third team. He was one of seven Big Ten players on the first team, joining Ohio State center Billy Price, Michigan defensive tackle Maurice Hurst, Wisconsin linebacker T.
