As the start of the 2016 college football season approaches, several awards have released annual watch lists. Two Penn State linebackers, Nyeem Wartman-White and Jason Cabinda, have been named to the Butkus Award Watch List.
Cabinda now finds himself on three preseason lists, as he has also been named a nominee for the Bednarik Award, given to the best defensive player, and the Lott IMPACT Trophy, given to the best defensive player who impacts his team both on and off the field.
The junior linebacker had a breakout season last year, leading the Nittany Lions with 100 total tackles and getting an honorable mention on the All-Big Ten Team.
