Penn State head coach James Franklin announced on Sunday that he had relieved offensive coordinator and tight ends coach John Donovan of his duties, effective immediately. Donovan had come under fire all season as fans watched the Nittany Lions continue to struggle on offense.

Franklin had worked with Donovan for the past five seasons, three at Vanderbilt and two at Penn State. “I have tremendous respect for John and the work he has put in over the last five years,” Franklin said.
