Penn State football observations with the Nittany Lions finishing up the first week of spring

Here's James Franklin on Penn State's approach early in spring practice: "We're not doing a whole lot of moving parts in practice," Franklin said. "We're not at the point where we're moving guys around. We're practicing guys how we started, at every position. We haven't made any adjustments yet, there hasn't been any position battles that have changed at this point."

The Lions' defense of their Big Ten championship won't get serious until late summer and August camp. But PSU's spring practices are about teaching and building toward a successful fall and also figuring out which players, particularly the young ones, fit where in Franklin's program.
