Penn State football lost a big part of its offense heading into the 2018 season, but the effect wasn’t exactly as most would have thought. Saquon Barkley, one of the best running backs in school history, left Happy Valley after his junior year in 2017 and was chosen with the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. His departure left a big question mark, but backup running back Miles Sanders was ready to step up to the plate.
After losing Barkley, it would not have been unreasonable at the start of the year to think the run game would suffer.
