With a linebacking corp that saw wholesale changes in the offseason, fourth-year junior Jan Johnson has stepped in and done just fine at Mike linebacker. He currently leads the team in tackles with 16. He starred in the season opener against Appalachian State, making 11 stops. Last week against, he made five more stops and half a sack to help Penn State football’s defense hold the Panthers to six points.
Johnson along with Micah Parsons and Cameron Brown have built a solid middle portion of the defense with returning starter Koa Farmer. Parsons and Brown were the two youngsters that were expected to jump into the starting lineup, but Johnson has shown up in his reps.
