Penn State entered last season needing to find a replacement for to perceiver DaeSean Hamilton. There were a few candidates for the job, but one quickly emerged at the start of the season. KJ Hamler, seeing his first action on the field for the Nittany Lions, wasted no time establishing himself as the top option in the Nittany Lions’ passing attack as a redshirt freshman.
Despite some veteran wide receivers on the depth chart, Hamler had a great opening game and made himself stand out as a top offensive player for the Nittany Lions.
Hamler opened the season against Appalachian State with three catches for 67 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown.
