Everyone knew the Penn State football kicking game needed to improve after last season. Now-graduated kicker Tyler Davis did a great job on extra points connecting for a perfect, 71-of-71, but he was just 9-of-17 on field goals. It wasn’t great. With true freshman kicker Jake Pinegar, a three-star recruit, many expected him to take the job and make the kicking game more consistent.
The start of the season was rough to say the least. He hit just 4-of-8 field goal attempts through the first six games. He missed three attempts from 40-plus yards and one from the 30-plus range.
