This season featured a lot of ups-and-downs for the Penn State football passing game. The usual, composed star receivers weren’t making big plays, so the young guys got a chance to showcase their skills. They did and produced.
I mentioned last month that KJ Hamler and Pat Freiermuth have gotten their due for putting up huge numbers in year No. 1 but that trend continued throughout the rest of the season, especially for the wide receivers.
In terms of freshmen/redshirt freshmen wide receivers, they caught 67 passes for 1,160 yards and seven touchdowns this year.
