Penn State Football: ESPN Does Short On “We Are” Mantra

The short tells the story of the newest sculpture on Penn State’s campus, the “We Are” sculpture that sits at the corner of Curtain Road and University Drive right next to the Intramural building. Created by 1994 Penn State graduate Jonathan Cramer, who entered a design contest set forth by the Penn State graduating class of 2013 who wanted to dedicate a new sculpture the university following the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal.

For those who didn’t know, the famous Penn State “We Are” mantra began in 1946 when the entire Penn State football team unanimously decided to stand up to the University of Miami, who demanded that Wally Tripplett and Dennie Hoggard, both African-American football players for Penn State were to stay behind in State College due to Miami’s segregation laws.
