Penn State football fans and likely, even the coaching staff itself were probably hoping that four-star wide receiver signee Lonnie White Jr would not be selected early in this year’s MLB Draft.
That hope ran out on Monday afternoon when the Malvern Prep graduate was drafted 64th overall on Monday by the Pittsburgh Pirates. The slot value of the 64th overall pick is just north of $1 million. Though with the Pirates going “under slot” (taking a player who will sign for cheaper than the recommended value) with their No.1 overall pick, they will have more money to offer White during negotiations.
