The departure of top tight end Mike Gesicki to the NFL leaves Penn State football with perhaps the biggest holes at a position besides running back. Due to Gesicki’s success with the Nittany Lions, few backups got a chance to see many reps over the last few years.
Fortunately, head coach James Franklin worked hard at recruiting tight ends in order to refill the depth chart with talent at that position.
One true freshman who has a chance to make an impact immediately is Pat Freiermuth.
He arrived on campus in May and will be ready to participate whenever practice for the season kicks off in August.
